MAC's Love Lace collection is one of many MAC collections that I didn't appreciate until I saw it in person. I sort of "poo-poo'ed" it as being too much like last winter's Chill collection. And while this collection has quite a bit of frost like Chill, it's a much deeper, more mature collection. MAC claims this collection is "all about dramatic, intense, smokey eyes" and with the grays and deep blues of the eye shadows, I can definitely see a blue smokey eye from this collection.

I can't count how many time I've been asked about my favorite MAC eye shadows. It's difficult to pick a handful of favorite colors usually because my favorites always seem to be changing. It's also difficult to pick out favorites to share with you because so many of my MAC shadows are no longer for sale. (And please don't turn to Ebay for discontinued MAC--it's 98% fake.)

I decided to pick just five of my favorite colors as a start. I think any more would have been too overwhelming for me. Ha-ha. :)

Hello! I'm Caroline and I know it's the day after Christmas, but I primarily celebrate the New Year. :) I'm a week from being 20 years old but people either think I'm 30 or a middle schooler. Take that as you will!

10. This is more a gift for you but it means a lot to me: please sign up for your local Freecycle.org. It's where you can give and receive used items to keep them out of the landfill and keep things from collecting dust in your house. My sister furnished her whole apartment with used items from Freecycle and she highly recommends it along with me. :)

9. I would be so honored if you would make a small donation to one of the organizations I support: World Wildlife Foundation, UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, the Humane Society, SPCA, Mercy Corps, your local women's shelter, the ACLU, the Human Rights Campaign, Lutheran World Relief, Save Darfur, Unite for Sight, Operation Smile, the Full Belly Project, or any other organization that supports health, human rights, animals, women, GLBTQ communities, the rainforest, or any other disadvantaged group that needs our help.

8. Please reduce, reuse, and recycle. Think about the environment every time you make a purchase, wrap a present, go for a drive, turn on the lights, or turn up the thermostat. There are easy ways to reduce your environmental impact. This world isn't ours for the taking, we're here to share it.

7. This is really important. Please get your H1N1 vaccine, or at least wash your hands like crazy. A beautiful, previously healthy girl from my dormitory died from the H1N1 flu two weeks ago after nearly a month in the hospital on life-support. It was an unbelievable tragedy for everyone and I don't want to see it happen to anyone else.

As for material items, I would love:

6. Any nerdy Star Trek items, fanfiction, or fanart. I just recently fell into this fandom and I adore it, especially the new movie and The Original Series. Why yes, I will play with your unwanted action figures! My favorite characters are Kirk, Spock, and McCoy but I love them all.

5. Anything that could help me learn Japanese. Do you have any partially-or-entirely-Japanese manga at your house that you never read anymore? A Japanese-English dictionary? I am planning to go to Japan this summer and I really want my Japanese to be as good as possible.

4. I would love a surprise. Did you receive anything for Christmas that you don't want or can't use? I bet I could find a great use for it. :D

3. Earrings! I love to wear beautiful and random earrings, especially if they are somewhat small in size. I don't mind if they're used or if they've been a box for a million years; I'll wash them. :)

2. Any University of North Carolina gear. I love that school and the color of Carolina blue. I wear a size medium in girly shirts and probably a size small in men's shirts, but I'll adore even bumper stickers or little Tar Heel feet keychains or anything.

1. A picture, song, video, or story that REALLY makes you laugh. I collect all kinds of hilarious photos because then I can never have a sad day. It's pretty easy to make me laugh! Here, you can have one now too.

Those are my wishes. My email address is tina eat your food at gmail dot com (with no spaces). Please have a wonderful, safe holiday season!

If you received a gift, card, email, letter, trinket, whatever, from someone in this community, I want you to send them a thank you email, comment, something. Just something to let them know you didn't take them for a ride, and that you appreciate the time they took to look through your list and send you something. It doesn't have to be fancy, it doesn't have to be long, but please say it. Sometimes we get caught up in the excitement and forget to say thanks after receiving a gift. I know a lot of folx post a "thank you" in the wish list entry, but not afterwards, and I think that sometimes people might get their feelings hurt.

So, that's my Holiday Wish.

EDIT: I think I fixed the problems
It has been a few years since I last did this, but I wanted to try to do it this year. I really just want to throw out some great ideas for giving to help others.

1. Americans spend $450 billion on Christmas last year, according to the website Advent Conspiracy. $10 billion would solve the world's clean water problem. Advent Conspiracy suggests that we buy one less gift and give the money to the water distribution charity of our choice. My personal favorite is Blood:Water Mission because they started their project in an effort to combat AIDS in Africa (and it doesn't hurt that my favorite band, Jars of Clay, was instrumental in helping to start it). Giving to any water distribution charity would be great.

2. If you have $85 dollars (which I know most of us don't), or could find enough people to donate with you, you could provide a water filter for a family in Africa that could last up to 20 years.

Filters for Families this Christmas | Blood Water Mission

Shared via AddThis

Yes, it's Blood:Water Mission again. That's the only two for them, I promise.

3. Have an internet connection, and a few seconds? Then click here for free to give free mammograms. (You've probably already heard about the free click sites, but it never hurts to be reminded.)

4. And here for free to give food.

5. And here to provide free health care to children.

6. Also here to give books to promote literacy.

7. And here to help protect wildlife habitats.

8. Also here to help support animal shelters.

9. If you want a new pet, consider adopting an animal from a Humane Society or another animal shelter.

10. When you are walking past those Salvation Army ringers, stop and put in a dollar or two at least once.

I'm sure I could list more, but we are only allowed 10, so I've reached my limit. Happy holidays.

Ahoy there! 30 years old, Australia, no money this year, so I am trying to ask for things that cost nothing but time - and I am trying to do the same thing or others.

1. Do you know any PhD students? Then please: DO NOT ASK THEM WHEN THEY WILL FINISH. In my experience (and I am currently living it!) the writing up is the hardest, and you push yourself, and push yourself, and still don't finish. Having people ask questions and have a show of incredulous disbelief that you are still there????? is not at all heartening!

2. For a number of years I have been trying to get this post up to the 5000 - and now the 10 000 mark. Please go make a comment! Comment to other peoples. Maybe I will get there in the next 10 years

3. Suggestions for non-mainstream musicals. I adore musicals and opera, and I am interested in things that don't only make it to broadway and westend. Particularly ones that have numerous female roles, and if there is a chorus, that they are not only on for less than 10 minutes in a 2 hours show.

4. If you feel like sending me a random gift, I am totally cool with that. Just message me and I shall respond :-)

5. I am a busy and stressed person.. but I have an artistic side too. What sort of artistic things do you do that can be set up and put away, and don't require a *huge* investment of funds? I really want to know!

6. Appreciate someone! I think we forget how important the little strokes are - well done, thankyou for doing that etc etc. Do it for a friend, do it for someone you work with. It can change a whole dynamic.

7. Next time you hear someone say something derogatory about someone else - whether because of their religion, their colour, because they are fat, or any of a other myriad of reasons, call them on it. I am a big believe that by saying nothing we are passively endorsing whatever it being said. This one is a huge call, but I think if we all did it, the world would be a nicer place.

8. If you were having the ultimate dinner party, what would your menu be? (recipes nice, but not mandatory :-). We have a dinner party group, and my mexican lunch was nice, but a lunch, not a dinner party (to quite my friends). I have until Feb to come up with my menu, but I want to wow everyone, and would love some ideas. There are no dietry restrictions (there is a lactose intolerant vegequarian coming, but I will make her her own dishes if it doesn't fit in with the main food).

9. Give a loved one a hug and tell that you love them. Do this *especially* if you don't do it all that often. I know that I love my family, but I don't think I always say it :-/

10. If you think we would get on, and if you like interacting, and would like another lj friends, add me! I miss the interactions that I used to have, and while I love the people I have there at the moment, I would be a fool to say no to new friends

And I think that is all! I wasn't intending to make such a long list.. but it is what it is :-)

Hi! My name is Daisy, I'm 26, and I live in Texas. This is my first time here. I know I'm way late, but I'm mostly posting this because I love making lists.;)

1. A Pen pal: I miss getting things (other than bills) in the mail.

2. Sweet Valley University books: I loved these when I was a teen and, apparently, some things never change. I'd love to have all of these (so far, I have the first three).

3. Hayao Miyazaki movies: Beside the fact that I love them, they are the only movies my kids will sit through (regardless of how many times they've seen them).

4. Roller derby stuff: I'm kind of obsessed with roller derby; I'll take anything!

5. HESI A2 tips: I am applying to nursing school and have to take this soon. I'm kind of really stressed over the whole application process.

6. Knitting help: I really want to learn to knit. I feel kind of dumb because I can't get past one row.:/

7. Craft supplies: Once upon a time, I used to be super crafty. I'm trying to get that back.

8. Mixed cd’s: It's always nice to discover new music.:)

9 Scarves: Any and all. I've never been a scarf-wearer, so I'm kind of trying them out.

10. Healthy, easy recipes: I'm trying to develop better eating habits.

Happy holidays!!

I'm Lily, and am more than kind of late this year, but I figured I may as well post a list as I'm trying to grant so many. I'm pretty sure I've done this for four years now, am 19 years old, am going to a community college intending to major in Creative Writing, just recently celebrated a one-year anniversary with my awesome boyfriend, and am from Lafayette, California (yay NorCal.) Honestly, I feel like I had a HUGE wish granted already, because last week it looked like my family was going to be evicted from our duplex. Fortunately, we got everything straightened out and the future is looking a bit better.

My list is kind of spastic. Or, at least it seems like it to me.

1. Recommendations for weird books. Typically if I think a book sounds sort of odd or unusual, I'm pretty liable to pick it up. By this I mean books that are really surreal, have a bizarre plot device, maybe even had something you found kind of weird or disturbing in them. Basically, if you've ever finished a book and thought 'Man, that was a trip'? I'd probably want to read it.

2. Advice for recovering a broken hard drive. Definitely a long shot, I know. Last summer my hard drive stopped spinning, as I have been told, and there are a few things I would really, really want to recover from it. It's from a Dell Vostro 1500, and if anyone could point me in the right direction for somewhere to take it/what I could do I'd appreciate it. (I've been told it could take $1000+ to fix..?)

3. Somewhat related, musical soundtracks. I had a LOT of them on my hard drive that random friends/acquaintances sent to me, or gave me on a burned CD that is now scratched to pieces. There aren't really any musicals I hate, and I'd kinda prefer physical copies but digital is fine too. The only soundtracks I know I have on CD are Urinetown, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch, so I'm covered on all of those.

4. If you're an avid reader and have a ton of books lying around, join PaperBackSwap.com! It's pretty much awesome, fairly easy, and you can put your account on hold if need be. I joined it a few years ago because of someone on here, and really I just want to spread the word. If you do decide to join, please list me (my username's Eudial) as the person who referred you.

5. College advice because I still am not really decided on what school I'm transferring to. I'm looking for somewhere with a strong writing/creative writing program, in a fairly urban area, and a fun atmosphere is always nice. I'm pretty much open to suggestions, feel free to tell me about somewhere I may not have heard of or considered.

6. Halloween themed socks! I wear them year-round. :D My feet are like, US women's size 8, but apparently I still fit bigger sizes of kids' socks.

7. A Magic Bullet, because it looks pretty nifty and my current blender is older than I am.

8. Toffee. Homemade toffee would make me unreasonably happy, but also so would normal store-bought Almond Roca.

9. BART tickets, with any amount on them. My boyfriend lives in the San Jose area, and I have no car, so this is pretty much how I visit him. Maybe you were in the SF area and have a half-used ticket? Or just feel generous? I don't know. In any case, it would be greatly appreciated.

10. A paid account would be cool; I've gotten way out of the habit of regularly updating my journal and want to get back in the swing of things. Ngl, the extra icons would definitely be an incentive.

Thanks for reading! Hope you have a charming holiday, if you aren't already. My address is here )
